Ronnie was born Ronald Dean Coleman on May 13, 1964 in Monroe, Louisiana. Ronnie graduated from Grambling State College in Louisiana with a degree in accounting and became a police officer in Arlington Texas in 1989.

Ronnie Coleman first became interested in bodybuilding while working for the Arlington Police Department. He began training in Arlington’s Metro Flex Gym and quickly became friends with the owner, Brian Dobson who introduced Ronnie to competitive bodybuilding.

Ronnie entered his first show in 1990 and won the heavyweight and overall classes to become Mr. Texas. Right now Ronnie’s contest weight is around 285 lbs. while his off season weight hovers around the 315 mark.
